Imagine their reaction as they first set eyes on "Honest Abe's" lanky frame, complete with beard, period costume, and his famous "stovepipe" hat! During the thirty to forty-minute presentation, Mr. Lincoln leaps out of the textbook pages as history comes to life. Your students will quickly learn that our sixteenth president was not the stiff and stodgy wax figure we often imagine him to be, but a lively man with a quick wit and a sense of humor. The assembly ends with one of the most stirring orations in American history, the Gettysburg Address, followed by a time for questions from the students. This researched and historically accurate presentation is suitable for all elementary grades, as I tailor the material to suit each level.
